We are skipping right over the holiday shopping, family gatherings and parties and jumping right into New Year’s Eve. Is it too soon? Actually, no, now is the time to book your travel. Start your own searches on HelloGbye or read on for inspiration. (Plus, during the holidays you can tell everyone where you are celebrating New Year’s Eve. Nice!)

New York City, New York

We have to start the list with New York City. I know it is not for everyone. If you want a city adventure with a huge New Year’s Eve party, this is the place. Nothing can compete with the historical Times Square with the ball drop.

Toronto, Canada

The New Year’s Eve Comedy Extravangaza returns this year hosted by Caroline Rhea and Mike MacDonald. I didn’t realize how many great comedians are Canadian. Have you seen this list of comedians from Canada? Wow. Seth Rogen, Mike Meyers, Samantha Bee, Lorne Michaels, Dan Akyroyd, Caroline Rhea, Eugene Levy, Will Arnett…the list is endless. Outstanding! Catch comedy at its best in Toronto.

Havana, Cuba

The first commercial flights from the United States to Cuba are happening now. Cruise ships are now connecting to Havana on their route and Starwood hotels opened a location. The US regulation says pure tourism is illegal. Your travel needs to be tied to a religious, sport or educational activity. Most people travel to the Caribbean’s largest island under the people-to-people contact/educational purpose.

Sedona, Arizona

If you are looking for healing, relaxation and regeneration, then a Sedona spa retreat is in order. Sedona offers a wide variety of spas that are tailored to your needs and in-destination activities.

Quebec City, Canada

Ring in the new year on the Grande Allee, street with cafes, shops and restaurants, with an outdoor party, an urban zipline (yes, a zipline!) and music. In December, Quebec will be a winter wonderland with the cobblestone streets and historic architecture. Take an extra day to explore the shops, markets and antique stores.

Las Vegas, Nevada to Zion National Park, Utah

On second thought, no, don’t go to Vegas for New Year’s Eve. Sorry, Vegas is not my cup of tea. Sure, it will be fun, and there is a ton to do there. I know people love Las Vegas so let’s do a mix up. How about a base camp in Las Vegas, but then drive to Zion National Park, Utah for an outdoor adventure. It may be a little chilly (sock hat and sweater), but it will be the off season…peaceful and quiet. Vegas to Zion National Park – now that is a New Year’s dichotomy.

Napa and Sonoma Valleys, California

Winter is the slow season in Napa and Sonoma, and you will feel like you have the wineries all to yourself. The larger wineries offer blacktie parties and five-course dinners in their wine cellars. For a casual experience, you can spend your day touring and tasting wines and then have dinner at one of the many fantastic restaurants. Then ring in the new year outside sitting by the fire drinking your favorite wine from the day.

Niagara Falls, Canada

Two thousand pounds of fireworks, three million lights, international music for dancing all night and fun for the whole family. This year they have an all-Canadian concert line up. You need to check this one out.
